Fly Fishing Film Tour 2009: Report

WOW, what an excellent time we had at this years 2009 fly fishing film tour at the King Cat Theater in Seattle.  Thao T., Gil C. and Jason D. all met up to enjoy this years collection of ten films. We hooted and hollered, cheered and oogled at the wonderful journey that the film makers and fishermen made to bring us this production. Its sort of like a Warren Miller ski film but made for us fly fishermen to get the season started. I don’t really see there being a ‘start’ to the season, as Im usually fishing every month of the year with opportunities from salt, to trout and everything between that has me dreaming of being back on the water. Thad Robison and crew put on a great show this evening with my favorite film being “Drift” from Confluence Films.  I especially like the story of fly fishing in Kashmir, India.  Which documented the story of two anglers from Idaho that made the trip to Kashmir upon invite from a grandson of the man who brought fly fishing to India, inspired by the British. Those brown trout and amazing Rainbow trout were fantastic to witness. It was a simply amazing journey, cinematography and story.  I hope to learn a little more about filming and editing and come up with a short fly fishing film of my own this year. In the meantime, I’ve included the trailer to DRIFT for your enjoyment.
